Cruise Ship Survival Guide - Part 5 - Happy Tummy - Tips for Avoiding Gastro & Staying Healthy

Updated: Jul 28, 2022

In this part 5 of the healthy cruise holiday preparation plan, we'll explore tip 5 for staying healthy on cruise holidays...

Tip 5 - Happy Tummy

Everybody knows that when travelling, most people experience tummy upset at some point during their cruise holiday. Whether it's from overindulging at the cruise buffet or eating foods that your stomach isn't accustomed to, tummy rumbles are a common experience for travellers on cruise ships.

So what can you do about it?

Well first, consider the foods that you eat. Resisting the all-you-can-eat temptation by eating in moderation is a great first step. Eating healthy foods and drinking lots of water is always recommended.

Tummy Upset

Though if you do find yourself with tummy upset or embarrassing gas smells from flatulence, Young Living's Digest & Cleanse capsules can soothe those tummy troubles. Containing calming tummy supportive oils including peppermint, ginger and fennel, Digest & Cleanse capsules are a great addition to a travel kit. Follow the label instructions to take one capsules before meals.

What about sea-sickness?

Being on a cruise it's inevitable that some people will experience the queazy tummy sensation associated with sea-sickness. Young Living's AromaEase is fabulous for easing those un-easy feelings associated with motion sickness. Simply rub a couple of drops of AromaEase on the stomach.

Gut health equals good health!

Have you heard that the gut is often called our second brain? Did you know that if your tummy is unhappy, so are you! Yes, tummy troubles affect mood and the mind. So if the gut is unhappy or inflamed, then it can lead to inflammation in the brain too.

Emotions can affect the tummy too

If you're feeling uneasy in the tummy, perhaps you're nervous, worried or feeling a little anxious, then using calming oils for the tummy may be a good option for you. Great emotional support oils for the tummy are Young Living's DiGize, AromaEase or Peppermint. Apply 1 to 2 drops of DiGize, AromaEase or Peppermint to the stomach. I like to use a rollerball fitment attached to the top of the bottle for ease of application.

Kids have Tummy Troubles too!

What about the kiddos? What can you do to support their tummies? That's where TummyGize comes to the rescue. Specifically blended for use with kids of 2 years and older, KidScents TummyGize features tummy soothing essential oils in a pre-diluted blend. Simply apply a drop or two to your child's tummy.

Immune system support

And you may have heard that a large percentage of our immune system is in our gut. So again, if the tummy is upset or inflamed, it can lead to a compromised immune system, leaving us more vulnerable to being affected by the elements around us.
